The committee, is also known as the Association of Environmental Sociology, has a broad and steady program of events for the development of environmental sociology around the world by holding a biennial conference and a four-year seminar.
The quarterly journal "Environmental Sociology" and the "Environmental Sociology" Newsletter are published in two quarters.
The International Association of Environmental Sociology or the "Society and Environment" Committee was established in 1971 and its board members are elected for a period of four years by direct vote from members from all over the world. This is the first time that an Iranian has been elected as a member of the board of directors of the association and, of course, the highest vote among the members of the board was allocated to this faculty member of University of Mazandaran. Dr. Salehi has been a member of this association since 1998 and the subject "Environmental Sociology" was first approved and teached in Iran by his proposal at the University of Mazandaran. Among his scientific we cam mention “An Introduction to Environmental Sociology” (Satan), “Environmental Sociology” (Hunigan), “Society and Nature” (Irvine), Renewable Energies, and The Book of Society and Climate Change.
Dr. Salehi has been a member of the board of directors of the International Society for Human Ecology in 2007-2005. Dr. Sadegh Salehi was selected to be the winner of the International Eco-Design Award in 2015.
