The First Meeting of the Research Commission of Association of State Universities of Caspian Sea Region at Astrakhan University of Russia

On Wednesday, February 20, 2020, on behalf of University of Mazandaran, I attended the meeting with representatives of University of Gilan, Science and Technology Parks of Mazandaran and Gilan, University of Technology of Azerbaijan, Universities of Atyrau and Aktau in Kazakhstan, Dagestan State University, Astrakhan State University and Astrakhan State Technical University.
The first research commission of the Caspian Sea region universities alliance was held in two parts, with the attendance of the President and Vice-Presidents of the Astrakhan State University and the Adviser to the UNESCO Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
There were various suggestions and discussions on the Statute of the Research Commission. After reviewing the proposals and hearing the opinions of the members who agree or disagree, the agreement was made on the goals, programs, the procedures of becoming a member, submitting research projects, and reviewing the acceptance criteria for research proposals, criteria for selecting members, changing members, location and time of Commissions and how to support research projects. After this the necessary decisions were made.
The second part of the research commission's meeting was devoted to reviewing the roadmap, so the programs, activities ahead, and executive, cultural and research priorities were focused on this matter. In this section, in order to plan, target and formulate executive, cultural and research priorities of the Caspian Sea, a list of priority programs and research activities of the Caspian Sea region universities that has been presented at past meetings of the Association of State Universities of Caspian Sea Region, was reviewed and prioritized, and after hearing the opinions of the members, it was approved.
The commission ended its work by examining and approving the Statute and the roadmap of the Research Commission on February 20, 2020, At the end, all members of the commission took a photo in the hall of the Astrakhan State University Commission in the hope of a comprehensive effort and exchange of constructive ideas for the sustainable development and conservation of the Caspian Sea resources.
I also visited the two faculties of Design and Architecture at Astrakhan State University. After seeing some of the mid-term and final projects of the students and professors, I had a meeting with the Honorable Dean of the Faculty of Design and some of the professors and students and we discussed the most important scientific and artistic activities of the faculty and the ways of future bilateral cooperation.
Astrakhan is the most important scientific and educational center in southern Russia with more than 20 higher education centers. Astrakhan State University which is a subsidiary of Russia, is funded by the Federal Institute of Education.
The Astrakhan State University was established in 1932 and today offers all levels of pre-university to post-graduate education. The university integrates traditional academic methods with cutting-edge technology and is now ranked among the top improving institutions of European higher education.

Complex of scientific units are consisted of: Scientific and Research Institute of Natural Problems, Research Institute for Educational Issues in the Region, Caspian Region Strategic Research Institute, Department of New Material Science and Technology Research Center, Russian Language Dictionary Center, Political Research Center, Biological Methods Laboratory, Science and Research Laboratory of Linguistics, Science and Research Laboratory of Cultural Writing, Branch of Science and Ph.D.

There are about 700 highly qualified specialists in the Astrakhan University, which are consisted of 26 members of the Academy of Sciences, 93 professors, 328 associates and 175 assistant professors.
